Access Point Provider (APP): Certified entity responsible for secure transmission of e-invoices to FIRS.
Credit Note: Document issued to reduce or cancel an invoice amount, typically for returns or corrections.
Debit Note: Document issued to increase an invoice amount for additional charges.
E-Invoicing: Digital process for creating, sending, and processing invoices electronically in structured format.
Entity ID: Unique identifier assigned by FIRS to each registered business entity.
FIRS: Federal Inland Revenue Service, Nigeria's primary tax authority.
Fiscalization: Reporting of paid invoices to tax authorities for tax compliance.
HSN Code: Harmonized System of Nomenclature code used to classify products and services internationally.
IRN: Invoice Reference Number, unique identifier following format: {InvoiceNo}-{ServiceID}-{YYYYMMDD}.
MBS: Merchant Buyer Solution, FIRS's e-invoicing licensing framework.
NITDA: National Information Technology Development Agency, regulatory body for IT in Nigeria.
QR Code: Machine-readable code containing invoice verification data.
Service ID: 4-8 character identifier extracted from business's IRN template.
TIN: Tax Identification Number assigned to individuals or businesses for taxation purposes.
UBL: Universal Business Language, standardized format for electronic business documents.
VAT: Value Added Tax, standard rate 7.5% in Nigeria.
